You probably have the following, although I send it just in case:
Oyeronke Oyewumi, _The Invention of Women: Making an African Sense of Western Gender Discourses_. Minneapolis: Univ. of Minnesota Press, 1997.
While the book deals with much more than language, it includes language and makes very important points about context, especially focusing on colonial impact.
