Mary,
I don't know if either of these focus enough on the "language" aspect, but
two that come to mind are:
MAKEOVER TV: SELFHOOD, CITIZENSHIP, AND CELEBRITY by Brenda Weber (Duke,
2009)
WHAT A GIRL WANTS? FANTASIZING THE RECLAMATION OF SELF IN POSTFEMINISM by
Diane Negra (Routledge, 2009)

Subject: [GALA-L] recent books on language, gender/sexuality and
film/media/performance?
Dear all,
I have a student in film studies who's looking for a recent book (not
individual articles or chapters) on the above topic(s) for a class
assignment. Can anyone recommend something from the past 5 years or so?
Thanks a lot,
Mary
