Deadline extension IGALA 7 & other important news and reminders

 PLEASE NOTE WE HAVE EXTENDED THE DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS OF
ABSTRACTS FOR ONE MONTH ONLY: UNTIL NOVEMBER 30, 2011

 Other important news and reminders about IGALA 7:
 1)  So as to more adequately cater for all the intellectually
interesting  submissions IGALA 7 has been receiving, two new thematic
areas have been  created (9 and 10 below):
 1. Gender, sexuality, body and identities
 2. Gender, sexuality and health
 3. Gendered performances as discourse
 4. Gender and (dis)empowerment
 5. Gender, class, ethnicity and age
 6. Gender, sexuality and institutions
 7. Gender, media and technology
 8. Gender and violence
 *9. Gender studies in (applied) linguistics
 *10. Gender and sexuality in literature
 Those who have already submitted proposals should *not* resubmit
them, even if their thematic areas fall better into 9 and 10.
 2)  Note that the thematic areas are meant to be indicative. In
agreement  with the goals of the International Gender and Language
Association,  IGALA 7 welcomes papers in *all* areas of language and
gender research.
 3)  We are pleased to announce the IGALA 7 pre-conference workshop:
*Gender  in Interaction*, conducted by Professor Celia Kitzinger
(Department of  Sociology, University of York, UK). The workshop will
happen on June 18  and will be offered free of charge to all IGALA 7
paid up participants.  Information on how to register for the workshop
will be posted soon.
 Many  thanks to all of those people who have already registered on
the IGALA 7  website, and to those who have submitted proposals. It is
shaping up to  be a terrific conference!
 We look forward to welcoming you to Unisinos, Brazil, in June, 2012.

 Outras notícias e lembretes importantes sobre a IGALA 7:
 1)  De forma a contemplar todas as submissões intelectualmente
instigantes  que a  IGALA 7 tem recebido, foram criadas mais duas
áreas temáticas (9 e  10, abaixo):
 1. Gênero, sexualidade, corpo e identidades
 2. Gênero, sexualidade e saúde
 3. Performances generificadas como discurso
 4. Gênero e (des)empoderamento
 5. Gênero, classe, etnia e idade
 6. Gênero, sexualidade e instituições
 7. Gênero, mídia e tecnologia
 8. Gênero e violência
 *9. Estudos de gênero em Linguística (Aplicada)
 *10. Gênero e sexualidade na Literatura
 *  Aqueles/as que já submeteram propostas *não devem reenviá-las*,
mesmo  que suas áreas temáticas se enquadrem melhor nos itens 9 e
10.
 2)  Ressaltamos que a sugestão das áreas temáticas tem a
finalidade de  nortear apenas. De acordo com os propósitos da
International Gender and  Language Association, a IGALA 7 recebe e
encoraja trabalhos de *todas*  as áreas de pesquisas de linguagem e
gênero.
 3) Anunciamos  também com satisfação o workshop da
pré-conferência da IGALA 7: * Gênero  em Interação*, que será
conduzido pela pesquisadora Celia Kitzinger  (Departamento de
Sociologia da Universidade de York, Inglaterra). O  wokshop
acontecerá no dia 18 de junho e será gratuito para todos/as com 
inscrições pagas para a Conferência. Informações sobre como se
registrar  para o workshop serão postadas em breve.
 Agradecemos a  todos/as que realizaram seu cadastramento no site da
IGALA 7 e que já  submeteram propostas. Tudo indica que teremos uma
Conferência  espetacular!
