Applications for PhD Scholarships are now being welcomed by the Department of Modern Languages from candidates with a 1st, 2(i) or equivalent. The Department has expertise in the following subjects: 

Chinese, Applied English Language & Linguistics, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Latin American Studies

The Department's research clusters include:

Visual Cultures
Popular Cultures
Gender, Sexuality and Representation
Translation Studies
Language Teaching and Linguistics
Culture, History and Politics
