The research field at the crossroad of language and gender is
particularly fruitful: First for it is an exploration of the different
"genders" relevant for the analysis of social relationships through
discourses (grammatical gender, sex and social gender of speakers or
human referents, in written or spoken contexts). Second, this crossroad
enlightens the multiplicity of power relationships going through language.
This book presents 13 papers for an outlook onto the current research of
this dynamic realm. The first section is dedicated to the relationship
between gender and language (from both historical and theoretical
approach). The second section is concerned with studies of gender in
lexicon (including the study of nouns referring to men and women). The
third part gathers works tied to discursive analysis.
