I would like to add, on behalf of all of us at IGALA, how deeply shocked and saddened we are by the news about our colleague and friend Laurel Kamada. Our thoughts are with her and her family during what will be a very challenging time.
Laurel, please know that we are thinking of you and sending you wishes from all over the world for a speedy recovery.
With love,
Lia

Hello everyone,
I'd like to pass on some rather sad news. GALA member, Laurel Kamada (Author of "Hybrid Identities and Adolescent Girls: Being "Half" in Japan) suffered a severe stroke in early March while visiting her family in Seattle and has been in an intensive care unit ever since. She is recovering little by little every day, but it will be a long uphill climb for her.
I know that she has many friends and associates in GALA. If you would like to send Laurel a card, please send it in care of her brother, Ed Nudelman/ P.O. Box 25339 / Seattle, WA 98165. If you would like to send an email message for her brother to read to her during his daily hospital visit, please send it to
enudelman at msn.com<http://msn.com> (with the @ mark and no spaces).
Please keep Laurel in your thoughts and prayers.
Diane
