6th BAAL Gender and Language Special Interest Group Event (GaLSig)

Language, Gender and Sexuality



Date: Wednesday 10th April 2013; 10.00am to 4.00pm

Place: Centre for Interdisciplinary Research into Language and Diversity (InterLand), Aston University, Birmingham, UK.





Talks will include:



1.    Veronika Koller (Lancaster University)
Language and masculinities in queer discourse



2.    Jodie Clark (Sheffield Hallam University)

3.    Liz Morrish (Nottingham Trent University) and Helen Sauntson (York St John University)

‘How gay is football this year?’ Identity and intersubjectivity in a women’s university sports team



4.    Lucy Jones (University of Hull)

Dealing with 'community' in queer linguistics research



5.    Deborah Chirrey (Edge Hill University)

PLUS:

A plenary session in which some of the key issues raised in the talks will be discussed by attendees.



Early bird rates before 1st March 2013: £30 non-BAAL members; £25 BAAL members; £15 full-time students

After March 1st: £35 non-BAAL members; £30 BAAL members: £20: full-time students.
