RiGLS - Research (Group) in Gender, Language and Sexuality at Lancaster University

Dear all,

We are Mandy, Katharina and Federica writing on behalf of RiGLS, the research group in gender, language and sexuality at Lancaster University (UK), founded by Dr Jane Sunderland. For more information on RiGLS, please visit our page: http://www.ling.lancs.ac.uk/groups/rigls/index.htm

We would like to take this opportunity to invite researchers in language, gender and/or sexuality to give a talk in one of our sessions (Term 1: first session 8th October, last session 3rd December; but we will have timeslots available in Term 2 too, Jan-March). The sessions usually take place on Wednesdays, from 2.00 to 3.30 but we are happy to accommodate your needs in terms of time and day of the week.

We would be delighted to listen to presentations on all aspects of language and gender and/or sexuality and to have fruitful discussions about them. In the past, we offered sessions on gender and politics, gender in the media, sexuality/gender and literature.

The Department of Linguistics and English Language is a very vibrant one in terms of both teaching and research and we are only one among many research groups active in the department. In the past, we also organized inter-research group talks, e.g. RiGLS and LIP (Language, Identity and Power).

Unfortunately, as by departmental guidelines, we cannot provide travel reimbursement for Master and PhD students, but we could apply for research funds for other categories (e.g. lecturers, professors) and hopefully pay back your travel/accommodation expenses.
