Albion is, Ealfwin, and Aldoin, Edwin, according to the transaltor's notes
in Paul the Deacon's 'History of the Langobards'. These notes also say
Authuri was raised to the imperial dignity by emperor Maurice, thus he
"wore the purple". So did Theodoric the Great, and the Visagoth Kings of
Spain. Rosamund and Albion built Saint Columba an abby, or nunnery in the
Cottian Alps. The name Rosamund is difficult to pin down. It could be
Hrosmund, German for a "horse barn", or, Rosmund, ros being a fortified
prominance. Ross is also, horse?
Authuri's widow, Theudalinda was close with Pope Gregory,
and built several churches in Italy. The Gwelf family is kin to the d'Este
family who had an estate on the shore of lake Como in Lombardi, where on
an island in this lake the Comacine Masters had a college of
architects who are said to have built many of the Gothic cathedrals of
Europe. The d'Este Gwelfs are kin to the Hapsburgs.
