But at least Jordanes is writing about
an island, not a peninsula. And reading on
Jordanes quotes Pomponius Mela
writing that the island is in the Codanian bight,
which fits well with Gotland, but it
could also be Goetland, of course,
though not so leaflike.
Continuing even further in Jordanes
he positions Scandza "haec a fronte
posita est Vistulae fluminis", which also
fits well with Gutland.
Where is the description "elongated"
for Scandza in Jordanes?
