Esteemed listmembers,

Probably the Reidgotar was a movable term, used by
the Goths who at a given time had not migrated to
distinguish them from their relatives
who had,

After the migration from the Gothic empire in the East
the remnants of the Goths who stayed behind may
have called Ukraine Reidgotaland. When the Baltic
peoples (mainly Lithuanians) encountered these from
the middle Dniepr region they still found the term
Goths in use both with reference to the population
of the area and those who migrated. Until around 1546
the term Guda-s (sing.) and Guda-i (plur)
for the Rus population was used in contrast with
the Maskvos, Muscovites.

Geographical names from the times like

Dunheidr "Don Heath"
Jassarfjoll "Jas Mountain"
Myrkvidr "Black Forest"
Danparstadir "Homesteads on the Dniepr

show the Reidgotaland denoted Ukraine, especially
the land between the Donec and Dniepr. It also
shows the Ylfingar for a time had control of the
trade routes.

Gothically
