Dear Dirk,
I agree to all you said about the importance of the Sarmatians. And
they were still around from Pannonia to the Black Sea coast in the
fifth century. Theodoric the Great counted his years of personal
kingship from 470 AD, when he defeated the Sarmatian king Babai
and stormed the latter's residence Singidunum, today Belgrad.
