My answer:

You are right, and your suggestion is supported by Old Norse and Old English
sources which tell about the Goths who lived near Vistula river in the time
of the Hunnic invasion (in 4th c.). In +ACI-Hervarar saga ok Hei+ARE-reks konungs+ACI-
(from 12 c.?) we read about Hei+ARE-rek, king of +AF8-Hr+AOY-i+AP4-gotar+AF8- (i.e. OE +AF8-Hr+AOY-d+AF8-)
who was killed near Herva+AP4-a Mountains (Carpathian Mountains?). A king after
him was his oldest son Angant+AP0-r who ruled in +AF8-Arheim+AF8-. His brother Hl+APg-dr,
who spent many years among Huns (their king was his grandfather), came to
Angant+AP0-r's court for his heirloom. He wanted from his brother, Angant+AP0-r -

+ACI-great forest
whose name is Myrkvi+ARE-r+ADs-
that holy grave,
which lays in the land of Goths+ADs-
that beautiful stone
which stands on the banks of river Danpar...+ACI-

Angant+AP0-r rejected Hl+APg-dr's claim and the war began between Hl+APg-dr's Huns and
the Hr+AOY-i+AP4-gotar of Angant+AP0-r. The battle field is described in the saga as
follows:

+ACI-Go +AFs-for war+AF0-
to Dunhei+ARE-r,
under old
mountains of Jassar +AFsAXw-Jassar fjollum+AF8AXQ-.
There the Goths often
fought the wars...+ACI-.

Many authors have tried to localize the battle-field +AF8-Dunhei+ARE-r+AF8-, which can
be translated as +ACI-heath (on high ground) of Dun-+ACI-. The element +AF8-Dun-+AF8- was
explained as rivers +AF8-Danube+AF8- or +AF8-Don+AF8-, or as a Polish river +AF8-Dunajec+AF8- (this
name according to Babik cannot be earlier than 6th c. and it comes from
+AF8-Dunaj+AF8-, Slavic version of Danube). Some authors tried also to connect it
with Ptolemy's +AF8-Lugi Diduni+AF8- who lived in today southern Poland (+ACI-infra quos
Lugi Diduni usque ad Asciburgium montem+ACI-).

Another source indicates that the +AF8-Hr+AOY-i+AP4-gotar+AF8- (OE +AF8-Hr+AOY-d+AF8- Goth.
+AF8AKg-Hrei+AP4-gutans+AF8-?) lived in today Poland. It's Old English +ACI-Widsith+ACI-, where we
can read about Wulfhere (Goth. +AF8AKg-Wulfhari+AF8-) and Wyrmhere (Goth.
+AF8AKg-Waurmhari+AF8-?) who were probably the chieftains of the +AF8-Hr+AOY-da here+AF8- 'army of
the Hr+AOY-d'. According to +ACI-Widsith+ACI- the +AF8-Hr+AOY-da here+AF8- had to defend their old
land (OE +AF8-e+ARE-elstol+AF8- 'hereditary seat, habitation+ADs- royal city, chief city')
against Attila's people (OE +AF8Axg-tlan leodum+AF8-) near +AF8-Wistla wudu+AF8- or 'forest of
the Wistla'. The word +AF8-Wistla+AF8- is here the people-name, because the
river-name is +AF8-Wis(t)le+AF8-, not +AF8-Wis(t)la, in OE. It's a very interesting and
unique literary source which tells us about the Goths still living in the
Wistula region in the beginning of the period of great migrations in 5th and
6th cc. We can see that the name +AF8-Hr+AOY-i+AP4-gotar+AF8- (OE +AF8-Hr+AOY-d+AF8- Goth.
+AF8AKg-Hrei+AP4-gutans+AF8-?) or 'Famous Goths' (some authors translate it as
'Nest-Goths', 'Homeland-Goths') was sometimes used to describe the Goths who
still lived in today Poland in the late antiquity. From them the new settled
Slaves could learn many names of the rivers and other place-names. Finally
the Germanic peoples (Goths, Vandals, Heruls, etc.) lost their identity and
language in the succeeding waves of the Slavic migrations in 5th, 6th and
7th cc. I can imagine neighbouring villages of Germanic +ACo-Wistul+APM-s+AF8- and
Slavic +ACo-Vislany on the banks of River Vistula in the beginning of this
period.
