An interesting information is provided on the
Pietroassa ring, which has the form gutani.
The ring is believed to be from the later half
of the 3rd century AD. It is regarded as genitive
plural of the name of the people, in classical
form gutane. Nominative plural would be gutans.
Important here is of course the similarity to
ancient Swedish gutar for the inhabitants of the
Island of Gotland, singular Guti, formally the same
as Gothic gutans.

themselves Guththa, in texts from the fourth century also Tervingi
or Vesi  and Greuthingi or Ostrogothi, by official Latin texts from
the Ostrogothic and the Visigothic kingdom Gothus pl. Gothi and
Ostrogothi and Visigothi.
