So we differ on the meaning of zwingend = tvingande = imperative.
I guess this could be further researched in specialist German-English
dictionaries.
If you read the section d. on Nachleben you will find an example
of the impartiality of Taylor as opposed to the opinionated style
of Schwarcz.
Taylor also touches upon the fact of strong import of solidi
to south Sweden, that is well adapted to the chronology of
Eruli presence in southern Europe but points out that
the northern-southern connection is not "certain". "Certain"
is a very good terminology in this connection as nothing can be
said as aboslutely proven or certain.
I find Taylor's article very informative and I am glad it is so closely
scrutinized on this list. In some way it is indicative of the difference
of styrle betwee him an the bulletins we receive from Vienna.
'Keines dieser Argumente ist zwingend', really means none
> of the arguments convinces. Thus, Taylor is not presenting genuine
> alternatives, but lists all arguments that were brought foreward to
> connect the Eruli with Scandinavia in the past, but finds none of
> them convincing. This is not even ambiguous, at least not for a
> native speaker.
