Thank you, Anders.
I am sure you are right that this must be the event mentioned by the
museum. In Jordanes' text Hunimund is earlier presented as the king
of Suavi, but the Heruls - being neighbours to the Suavi - are not
mentioned as a member of the alliance and neither is the nationality
of Alaric.
My question is therefore:
Is this just another interpretation of Jordanes than that of Mierow
guessing who Alaric was (based on the name and common sense), or is
there another source supporting that the Heruls joined the alliance
and Alaric was their king?
