Dear Dirk,
of course Kokowski has a very similar outlook to Bierbrauer,
because he stands in the tradition of Godlowsky, Wolagiewicz and
Kmiecinsky, on whose work on the Wielbark culture Bierbrauer's
synopsis of Gothic history and archeology is based and all five
were (Godlowsky and Wolagiewicz are already and unfortunately
dead) and are connected with Wolfram's group of historians at
Vienna. In fact, I met Kokvsky only a few weeks ago at a
conference at Kravsko in Moravia and he and I have been friends
and penpals for nearly two decades. I am sure that no one is more
unhappy nowadays about some unfortunate passages in this
otherwise excellent catalogue of Bevern/Holzminden of 1995 than
Andrzej himself. Although the title is misleading, it was an
exhibition of Andrzej Kokowski's excavations of Wielbark
cemeteries and settlements and it had nothing to do at all with the
Ostrogoths.
Kind regards
                    Andreas
