Rhodin-Lindblom-Klang in their 1994 book underlined
the importance of Wessen's conclusion that Goths and
Goetar had a common root and could historically
be linked to each other. Thus they had common cultural
roots, an inheritance probably better represented by the Goths
than by the Goetar.

In later years (see for instance Kaliff's new book) the island
of Gotland, so the authors, has been regarded as an important
link in Gothic-Scandinavian cooperation. Rhodin-Lindblom-
Klang (RLK) believe that Vaestergoetland, Oestergoetland and
Gotland have suffered unjustly by the views put forward by
Weibull in Gothenburg. This was pointed out in four articles
by university lecturer Martin Giertz in the daily newspaper
Gotlands Allehanda.

Later there was intensive contacts between Greece and
Gotland. One of the signs of these contacts was the
richness of Gotland when it comes to Viking age coins and
silver treasures.

RLK theories are based on the fact that in the 4th century AD
the Regnum Ostrogotorum stretched from the Baltic Sea
to the Black Sea. Myths, they write, include Scandinavian
kings, who were subordinated to Ostrogothic kings.
