I just received a copy of the latest book by Malcom Todd called:

"Migrants and Invaders: The Movement of Peoples in the Ancient
World", Tempus Publishers, Stroud, 2001.

Todd discussess the latest archaeological evidence to analyse major
migrations in Europe from 500BC to 600AD. He covers all major
Germanic tribes, including of course the Goths.
