Rodrigo's Historia Hispanica is also of interest. It deals with
the period up to 1469 and was printed in 1470. The first edition
was published in Rome, where Rodrigo spent his last years
as castellano of San Angelo. In some historians views he
was the first who included history of ideas in his work.
It was the King of Castile, Henric IV, that had given Rodrigo
the commission to write this Spanish history. Rodrigo was also
a jurist and had taught as professor of jurisprudence of Salamanca
University. He was also member of the King's Council.
The work is initially a description of Spain's geography and
people and a short history before the arrival of the Visigoths plus
the foundation of the Spanish kingdom. After that he describes
the migration of the Goths from the North, which Rodrigo
in a similar way as Alfonso described as Dacia (Denmark?),
Svecia, Norvegia and Gothia (Goetaland?).
