Hi Keth,
That's quite correct there was a mesolitic culture along the Norwegian
coast that probably not was Saami. The main body of Scandinavia
however seems according to lately performed mitocondric DNA tests on
Saami women have been populated by them or rather kind of ancestors
to them. I have also heard that the language has shifted and the
original population, because of that might, have been not the Saami
themselves but kind of ancestors. The IE population however seems to
be later but possibly with exception of the Mesolitic culture along
the Norwegian coast. I am no expert in these questions however.
