Are you referring to the word for "Virgin"?  Out of context, It's hard to
know.  It comes from the word for "to grow" and is eqivalent to the
phrase "a growing(young)child(boy)or(girl)" thus it was used for and/or
equivalent to "virgin".   Good luck!!!  I hope this doesn't confuse things.
