--- It s somewhat uncalled for to try and equate my investigation in
Jat history and the links or lack of links phrases like " Uber
Alles", something that at the very least throws up some very negative
connotations of events some 2/3 of a century ago in Europe.
My hobbyist interests are ancient history and a few years ago I
started to take an interest in JAT HISTORYI formed that list to
accumulate in raw material all data and information that can be found-
a clearing house if you will The list is open to all.
I will not censor people's views, even if they appear outlandish and
I will not comment on them. Pole will come up with theories,
sometimes-wild theories. They should be tested and proved or debunked.
I have a Physics background, and in that background wild theories are
acceptable- like the is the Earth is Round.
I found references there to Getae, Goths, Juts, Scandinavia and so
on. There are many scholars and historians who make these
references. Konow, Todd, Sayce, to name a few.
Are then my attempts to investigate this aspects deserving of such
reactions?
These Scholars may all be very wrong. That does not bother me at all,
my curiosity is to see what original thinking there is!
The period from 500 AD and earlier is quite murky in that part of the
world, and if I may add in much else of the world.
If the movement of a people knows as the Huns is accepted as coming
form the East, is it impossible that other people may have also come
form the East. There is enough evidence of them and their descendants
stretching form Europe to Mongolia to India.
So what is wrong with accepting concept of movements in earlier
times, 500 BC, 1000 BC, or earlier?
If people move, they take certain things with them like clan's
names, habits, culture, philosophy, ideas, and language.
Frankly whether they come from the East or the North Pole or the west
or Mars is irrelevant to me.(I may draw my own conclusions and I
would others to draw their own.)
And there is and has been and is an ongoing a pretty vocal debate
on that.
I have been, am and are curious as to the connectivity, the links
that may have existed or exist. Why and how are their common
elements in the mythology, names, and customs.
I have joined this list to learn, and as I run into material I will
test it to get other viewpoints. For with other viewpoints other and
I readers will benefit,
Having had a scientific and auditing background, I have difficulty
with accepting "viewpoints" as being facts or evidence, or accepting
secondary references endlessly cited in support, as evidence.
Thanks to both Francisc and Dirk much feedback has been received, and
I hope more will come.
When we interpret events of so long ago, data is scant, and oft
interpretations are and will be colored by the approach or
perspectives we take to them.
Why get worked up? Let have fun in the exploration and the journey !
Best regards
Ravi
