About whether the Goths had a word like English "be". Lehmann's Gothic
Dictionary lists not only Gothic words but also their relations in English, German
etc. I find no entry for "be" in the list of English relations, or "bin" in the
corresponding German list. I should guess that the word is not represented in
Gothic, even though it has kin in Latin, Greek, and Sanskrit.
