Dear Ingemar and friends,
Thank you Ingemar for your post concerning your new book. I should
like to comment on your ideas and continue the thread on Agotes
(Cagots) in later posts. Now however, I must comment that it was very
good to see your reference concerning the "Tezaurul de la Pietroasa"
or treasure of Pietroasa.
For those unfamiliar, it is a wonderful hoard of treasure
attributed to the Goths found accidentally by two gentlemen in (I
believe) a mining district called Pietroasa in the country of Romania.
This famous find contained a hoard of objects icluding the neck ring
of Pietroasa, which bears a very telling runic inscription, a pierced
gold, cobochon encrusted eagle, several fbuli, patens, cups and many
other precicious gold objects.
I am sad to say however, that there is scant information or photos of
this trasure. I am writing at large in hopes that someone has found or
knows of some good books, catalogs and most importantly, (( PHOTOS ))
of and about these objects.
Thanks,
F.E.J.D.
