Note that Gothic *gais was probably an a-stem (as would be expected
from cognates in other IE languages), not a u-stem as this list
suggests.  So as an initial element it would be either: gaisa-, or
gaiza-.  According to Campbell (OE Grammar 613), the misunderstanding
arose from the Old English spelling: Guuihtgara-, which he considered
an error for Wihtwara.
