Hi, Oscar,

Attila was a Hun, being the son of the Hunic leader Mundzuk (also 
called Bendeguz).
The authors contemporary with Attila described him as having Hunic 
physical traits.
His Gothic name (attila "little father", from atta "father" + the 
diminutive suffix -ila) is considered that was in fact a nickname 
given by his Germanic-speaking subjects (Ostrogoths, Gepids, 
Skirians, etc.). It is also possible that "Attila" is in fact a 
Gothic phonetic adaptation of his original Hunic name (that could be 
something like Etele, Etil, or similar.)
