Which brings us neatly, albeit coincidentally, to Old English
'wyrm-réad', 'wyrm-basu' "scarlet" and 'wyrmlic fáh', 'wyrm-fáh'
"coloured red" (according to Wrenn & Bolton, "...and probably not
'decorated with serpentine patternings'"), 'wurma' "murex, purplefish,
purple"--and the Aztecs with their cochineal...
