Greetings all,
I've been reading this group for a week or two now and finally thought I'd join! I've always liked history and ever since reading Ammianus Marcellinus, the later Roman Empire and the years until the end of the Ostrogothic realm have held a special fascination for me. Specifically, how the events of those years entered into and were transformed by legend and myth. Besides being an amateur historian, I'm also an amateur games developer and recently released a 6th-century era game. I was wondering if I could get some help translating a few phrases into Gothic I would do it on my own, but I want to make sure the grammar/vocabulary is correct and I don't have time at the moment to go through the online copy of Wright's Gothic Dictionary I've found :)
"Brave warriors/knights and renowned/famous nobles of the Goths!"
"So speaks Theodoric, King of the Goths."
The first phrase is intended to open announcements to Gothic players, the second to close announcements by Theodoric to the larger world. If anyone could help out with these phrases, I'd be most grateful.
-Gaius (the Roman name is one I've used for years on the net, don't worry I'm still pro-Gothic ;))
