[gothic-l] A poem in Gothic with alliteration

In the tradition of Tolkien and his famous poem, I tried to write a poem
myself which makes some sense and which also has the pattern of the first
letter. I will include an English transliteration which isn't literal.


þaþro þridjo þiuda,
þan þatainei þeihanda,
liuþ laikais liuþonda,
brukjand bloma bloþis bairhtein,
bloma balu bigitands,
balus brikands baitraba,

Bloma brikiþ barusnjanda,
Standand stairnon slawuh,

Stodeins stainis saiƕanda,
Swinþniþ slawanda standanda,
Waila wisands wairþiþ wigs,
Wesei wairþiþ waltjanda.

English version:

>From there they came, third they were,
Only able to proceed,
Song of a dance they sang there,
Using a flower of blood in the light,
Evil was in this flower's sight,

Breaking evil in a bitter heart,
In their prayings the flower breaks,
They stood, a star without a mouth which takes,
Their might became a better thing,
Essence in a dark swing.
