TENURED/TENURE-TRACK OPENING(S) IN SPANISH LINGUISTICS FOR 2001-2002
One or more tenured/tenure-track positions, rank open, in Spanish
linguistics for September, 2001. Ph.D. and native or near-native Spanish and
English required. Specialization in Second Language Acquisition, with
expertise in at least two of the following: syntax, phonology, historical
linguistics, psycholinguistics, sociolinguistics, pragmatics, discourse
analysis, ethnography. Teaching assignment may include both undergraduate
and master's level courses. Demonstrated interdisciplinary teaching and
research interests, ability to work with students from diverse cultural
backgrounds, and commitment to teaching excellence and scholarship
essential. Knowledge of technology-mediated instruction strongly preferred.
Credentials/experience in any of the following desirable: translation
studies, teacher training (especially at the undergraduate level), direction
of lower-division courses and staff (including graduate teaching
associates). Demonstrated leadership potential a plus. Applicants must
present a coherent research agenda, provide evidence of teaching
effectiveness, and be willing to work collaboratively with administrators,
colleagues, and students as the department continues to engage in a process
of redefinition leading to the development of a new doctoral degree program.
