The 2nd Announcement
The Third International Conference on Chinese Pedagogy
June 25-27, 2002,  Nanjing, P.R. China

I. Important Deadlines:
1. Attendee¡¯s Information Form: As soon as possible, but no later than
the abstract deadline, send to Dr. Wenchao He (wenchao.he at nyu.edu) and a
carbon copy (cc)  to Dr. John Yu (jzqyu at yahoo.com). 2. Abstract:
December 15, 2001. 
3. Completed paper and conference fees ($260): February 15, 2002

Notes:
(1) All attendees must submit their abstracts first. The review process
takes approximately fourteen days. To those whose paper is accepted, a
letter of acceptance will be issued through email. 
(2) Papers submitted after the deadline (February 15, 2002) cannot be
guaranteed to be included in the published conference proceedings.
(3) For those who need an acceptance letter to apply for travel fund,
please submit the abstracts with an attached note indicating that a
hardcopy of the acceptance letter is needed.

 II. How And Where To Send Your Abstract, Paper And Fees:
1. Send your abstract (with your email address) to Dr. Tianwei Xie at <
txie at csulb.edu >, and send a carbon copy (cc) to Dr. Wenchao He
<wenchao.he at nyu.edu> by December 15, 2001. Letters of acceptance will be
issued by the Academic Committee on or before January 1, 2002.

2. After your paper is accepted, please send the following items by AIR
MAIL post marked by February 15, 2002 to Mr. Tang Yiwen of Nanjing
University: 
(1) A hard copy of your research paper; 
(2) A disk containing a computer file of your paper; 
(3) A personal check with the correct amount. Attach a note if you wish.

We strongly encourage you to write the address in Chinese characters.  

3. Also send your paper by February 15, 2002  as an email file
attachment to Mr. Tang Yiwen at chinesecon at nju.edu.cn and also to Dr.
Wenchao He at <wenchao.he at nyu.edu>.

III. Paper Format:
(1) Length: up to 4 pages (8.5 x 11), single-spaced. (You may need to
pay extra for the pages that exceed the limit.
(2) Margins: 2.54 cm (1 in).
(3) English (Font: Times New Roman, Size: 12) and Chinese (Font: GB,
Size:
12)
(4) File type: Microsoft Word. 

IV. Workshop.
There will be four workshops on the day before the conference, June 24,
2002.

V. Conference Working Language
 For abstracts/papers and presentations: Mandarin Chinese and English 

VI. Others:
(1)Conference Fees:  Conference Attendees: US$260, Accompanying Family
Members: US$100. It covers all the regular meals, two banquets, and
snacks during the conference and two guided tours inside Nanjing City.
Each conference attendee will receive a copy of the Conference
Proceedings and a group photo. An account exclusively for the Conference
has been opened under Mr. Tang Yiwen¡¯s name at Bank of China Jiangsu
Branch. Make the check payable to Tang Yiwen (You can write his name
either in Chinese or English. Mr. Tang¡¯s Chinese name can be found in
the mailing address of the conference). If you need account number for
wire transfer to Bank of China, please contact either Mr. Tang Yiwen or
Dr. Wenchao He.
(2) Lodging:
The Conference Secretariat will reserve hotel rooms at a three-star
hotel for all registered conference attendees and their family members.
You will be responsible for your own room cost. The cost is estimated to
be (100-140 Yuan per bed/per day). More detailed information about hotel
rooms will be announced when available. (3). The Conference Secretariat
will also arrange a group transportation service to and from the Nanjing
Lukou International Airport. You need to notify the Conference
Secretariat of your arrival and departure time through email in advance.

(4) Information for the tour to Huangshan Mountain or other places: For
those who wish to visit Huangshan or Suzhou, Wuxi and Tongli, the cost
will be extra. Detailed information for various tours will be provided
at the conference site. 
(5) For Elementary and High school Chinese language teachers from the
U.S., the conference can issue PDP certificate (Professional Development
Points) at request.
