ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF CHINESE: Tenure-track position, full-time,
beginning September 1, 2002. Required are completed Ph.D. by the time of
appointment, native or near-native fluency in both Mandarin and English.
Specialization: Chinese literature, civilization/culture. Incumbent will
teach Chinese language courses at all levels as well as literature and
civilization/culture courses in Chinese and in translation. Strong
commitment to research and teaching is essential. Participation in the
University's East Asian Studies Program is expected; record of
excellence in language teaching desirable; interest in developing study
