1. News Archives Update

The LPRU News Archives have been updated to September 2003 with over 100 new
articles on issues related to language policy from major English language
newspapers from around the world. Browse the list of new articles, or use
the search engine to find articles for particular countries, languages, or
topics.

The archives are accessbile through the "News Archives" link on the LPRU
homepage.


2. JLIE Submission Guidelines

The Journal of Language, Identity, and Education, continues to invite the
submision of articles, and now extends the invitiation for submission to two
new sections of the Journal--Research Notes, and The Forum.

Research Notes invites work that deals substantively with matters of method
and/or theory. This includes: Critiquing current methods or models of theory
or research methodology; pointing out the value of alternative approaches;
recontextualizing research within alternative frameworks.

The Forum invites commentary on current issues on any of the topics within
JLIE's editorial scope. It also welcomes responses or rebuttals to articles or
reviews published in the journal.

3. Language and the Law

The list of "Selected Court Cases Related to Language" has been updated with a
couple of new cases. Thank you to LPRU subscribers who referred us to these
cases. Please send any others that should be listed to us at LPRUlist at asu.edu.

policy making in state, national, and international contexts. The LPRU Staff

EPSL, The Education Policy Studies Laboratory, directed by Professor Alex
Molnar, conducts and coordinates original research in areas such as student
performance standards, assessment, commercialism in schools, curriculum, and
language policy issues. EPSL disseminates its analyses and reports to policy
makers, educators, media, and the public. It provides high-quality research
