International School of Beijing (ISB) is sponsoring an immersion Chinese
language camp to students at ages of 9-18 on its new campus at Shunyi,
Beijing from June 21 to July 15, 2004.

Complimentary Offer
Any teachers or parents who will bring 5 students or more to the camp will
receive a free round-trip economy airfare from Beijing to the home of
record. Students can also enjoy a group rate of 20% discount. ISB Camp
Director will receive students or group of students at the Capital Airport
and take care of them from there on until their departure date. The
accompanying teacher or parent can go off on his/her own during the 3-weeks
of camp for sightseeing, shopping or visiting friends. ISB will also provide
housing in Beijing if needed.

Camp Date and Cost
The ISB Chinese Language Camp is an immersion program in which themed-based
and activity-based fun approach will be used. Beijing will be the extended
classroom where students will learn Chinese language, culture, and people in
an authentic way. It runs from June 21 to July 15 for 25 days at the cost of
US$2,500. Students will be taken care of from the airport pick-up until the
date of departure, including tuition, room and board, books and materials,
transportation and tickets of day trips and overnight excursions, meals in
and out of the camp, laundry, etc. Additional child from the same family
will receive a 10% discount.

Course Offers
The program is focused on helping students to become more competent in a
Mandarin speaking environment through an appreciation of Chinese culture.
The program is structured with morning language class where students are
grouped by level and ability and culture electives, sports, and leadership
training for the afternoon. Electives includes dragon and lion dance,
martial arts, calligraphy, brush painting, Peking Opera, folk dance,
cooking, etc.  Field trips are the integral part of the curriculum. Other
than visiting historical sites, museums and performances, students will also
experience everyday life by shopping in traditional markets, visiting
peasant's village, eating breakfast in a local restaurant, etc.  They will
camp out and up sail on the Great Wall, fly kites in Temple of Heaven, enjoy
pedicel rides through hutongs, fan painting in Fragrant Hill and the
Botanical Garden, and an overnight excursion to Chengde Summer Palace, to
just new a few..

Orientation
The camp will begin with a 2-day orientation and tour of Beijing, including
Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, Summer Palace, the Great Wall and Ming
tombs.

Lodging and Meals
Students will be accommodated in air-conditioned dorms near ISB campus, and
commuted in air-conditioned buses from/to the camp and on various excursions
around Beijing.  Meals are served on campus and in various restaurants.

Camp Director
The Camp Directors are Mrs. Theresa Chao and Mr. Paul DelMain. Mrs. Mrs.
Chao is the Chinese Program Principal at the International School of
Beijing. She has over 20 years of teaching and supervising Chinese language
programs and camps. Mr. DelMain was a former ISB Chinese language teacher
and has over 14 years of experiences with immersion Chinese camps. He has
served as the Director of Concordia Chinese Language Village in Minnesota
for the past 8 years.
