ISHL Nominations

IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR ALL MEMBERS OF THE INTERNATIONAL SOCIETY FOR HISTORICAL LINGUISTICS

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

Several positions in the Society will fall vacant this year, and at the Business Meeting to be held during the Oslo ICHL a vote will be taken on proposals to fill these vacancies.  I have now heard from the ISHL Nominating Committee, who have made the following nominations:


i)  FUTURE JOINT PRESIDENTS/CONFERENCE DIRECTORS (for 2017)

Vyacheslav Vsevolodovich Ivanov (University of California, Los Angeles; Los Angeles CA, USA)  &

Natalie Operstein (California State University, Fullerton; Fullerton CA, USA)

Note 1: When any position in the Society is occupied jointly, the individuals concerned share a single vote.

Note 2: It is proposed to hold the 2017 Conference at California State University, Fullerton.


ii)  MEMBER OF EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE (to serve until 2019)

iii)  MEMBER OF NOMINATING COMMITTEE (to serve until 2021)

iv)  SECRETARY

The Nominating Committee proposes that John Charles Smith (University of Oxford, UK) should continue to serve as Secretary of the Society.


With these nominations, the composition of the Society's Committees will be as follows:

According to the Society's Constitution, individual members may also make nominations.  Should anyone wish to do so, could they please let both the Secretary (johncharles.smith at stcatz.ox.ac.uk) and the current Chair of the Nominating Committee (dwew2 at cam.ac.uk) know by email as soon as possible, and in any event before 11 July.  Nominations will require the signatures of six proposers and the written consent of the nominee.  The nominee and all of the proposers should be members of the Society.
