Looking for 'like' sources

I'm looking at the the use of 'like' as a marker to introduce direct
speech in English.  Any information on any sources in this area 
would be appreciated as well as:
- The use of 'like' in English as a particle.
- The use of the semblative marker to introduce direct speech 
in any other language.
