Hi, Larry,

Regarding the question of the *colour* of carrots, may I point out that legacy
gardeners (those that grow old-fashioned varieties of vegetables that have gone
out of common use because not amenable to the vicissitudes of modern shipping)
grow black and red carrots--the orange varieties appear to be the hardiest, but
may not have been the earliest.
