TEMPORARY SYNTAX POSITION
UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, BERKELEY
Pending budgetary authorization, the Department of Linguistics at
the University of California, Berkeley, hopes to make a temporary
syntax appointment for the 2000-2001 academic year (with a
possibility of renewal for an additional year). Candidates should
have demonstrated excellence in teaching, a broad intellectual
engagement with the field of linguistics, and a theoretically
informed research specialization in some area of syntax. The
ideal candidates interests and experience will intersect with
existing research at Berkeley, especially in semantics,
morphology, or a language area such as American Indian, Sino-
Tibetan, or Celtic languages.
Rank and salary for this full-time appointment will be commensurate
with experience. Duties will include teaching 34 courses (including
an undergraduate course and a research seminar) as well as graduate
advising in syntax. The Ph.D. is required by July 1, 2000.
