VP Ellipsis

Hi,

thanks for all the replies. There seems to be a certain tendency not to
accept (2b). In any case, the judgments seem to conflict with Chomsky's
analysis auf AUX and VP in Chomsky (1957), a.k.a. Affix Hopping. If I
understand the analysis correctly, (2b) as well as (2c), and possibly also
(2a) should be blocked. That's what I was after.
