Speaking as one die-hard generative guy to another, Your thoughtful
and careful clarification is much appreciated. I hope it is clear that
my indignation was not directed at you personally, but at an
often-encountered attitude, and one which I took to be instantiated in
Liz's description (which I doubtless read too much into).
