Several people have asked about HPSG work on L1 acquisition, and Ash has
mentioned Georgia Green's work. There is also a whole dissertation on the
topic, which apparently has been ignored / forgotten by the HPSG community:
Nina Wacholder, 1995, "Acquiring Syntactic Generalizations from Positive
Evidence: An HPSG Model", The City University of New York. (Adviser: Janet
Dean Fodor.)
Here is an excerpt from the abstract:
"This dissertation investigates how children can acquire, from positive
evidence only, a correct grammar which does not miss significant
generalizations or license ungrammatical constructions. A learning model
based on the GPSG prototype of Fodor (1992) is adapted to HPSG."
Best,
Adam
