Dear Ian Underwood,

LaTex is the way to go, it is not easy but it pays up.
Still, Equation Editor does enable the creation of tags:

1. Insert a matrix template
3. Format Menu > Matrix
3. 1 x 1  matriz with solid lines (click on borders)
4. Resize
