The Department of Linguistics at the University at Buffalo anticipates 
hiring a tenure-track faculty member at the Assistant Professor level 
beginning Fall 2006.  We are looking for a specialist in syntax who 
works on a lesser studied language (which may include pidgins or 
creoles).  A secondary specialization in some other area of linguistics, 
such as sociolinguistics, bilingualism, psycholinguistics, or typology 
is desirable.  The department has a strong cognitive science focus, with 
broad theoretical diversity.  The successful applicant will be expected 
to teach introductory and advanced courses at the undergraduate and 
graduate levels.  Research and teaching competence in syntax is 
required.  Ph.D. must be completed by September 1, 2006.  Strong 
potential for scholarly publication required. Review of applications 
will begin November 15, 2005; applications will be accepted until 
position is filled.  Applicants should send CV, letter of application,
