Ivan Sag (1949-2013)

Dear Colleagues,

It is with great sadness that I pass on to you the news that Ivan died yesterday afternoon. He had been very ill for quite some time.

Some months ago there was a workshop in Stanford to celebrate this life in linguistics. At the time he was already very ill, but in spite of this he played a full part in the proceedings, and his intellect and enthusiasm were undiminished.  

He was a great linguist, and a good friend. He will be badly missed.
