Buffalo 2014, Singapore 2015, Warsaw 2016

Dear Colleagues,

Three things in this mail.

First, I would like to thank Rui Chavez, Jean Pierre Koenig, Aron Marvel, Sang-Hee Park, and Anastasia Stepanova for their efforts in organising HPSG 2014 in Buffalo, and making sure it was such a welcoming, comfortable, and smoothly run event, and to Anne Abeillé and the rest of the programme committee for putting together such an interesting programme.

Second, I am happy to announce that HPSG 2015 will take place in Singapore, the dates will be 2nd or 3rd of August to the 7th. It is likely to include a workshop on affectedness. The local organiser will be Francis Bond. There is the beginnings of a web page at: http://compling.hss.ntu.edu.sg/events/2015-hpsg/

Third, I am happy to announce that following a proposal in the business meeting in Buffalo, and discussions in both the HPSG Standing Committee, and it’s LFG equivalent, it has been agreed that we will investigate the possibility of having a joint conference (HPSG-LFG) in 2016 in Warsaw. We (that's us and the LFG people) will be putting together a small working group to come up with a proposal about the details of this. I will let you know when this is set up, so you will be able to express any opinions. In the meantime, please let me know if you would like to be involved in such a working group. There was considerable enthusiasm for this in the meeting, and most people I have spoken to in both communities are supportive of the idea (and in particular Adam Przepiórkowski and his colleagues have expressed willingness to organise such an event in Warsaw), so if we will do this if we can come up with a sensible plan.
