CfP: Workshop on discriminative perspectives on morphology

IMM17, Vienna, 18 - 21 February 2016

The past decade has seen a resurgence of interest in discriminative approaches based on the Rescorla-Wagner learning model and their application to morphological acquisition and analysis. The key intuition that underlies these models is that learners come to discriminate between objects through a gradual disassocation of noncontrastive properties. The aim of the workshop is to explore the convergence of current work, assess the cumulative impact of this research on traditional problems and issues, and clarify the general model of language acquisition, structure and use that emerges from this paradigm.
