[HPSG-L] Comparison of HPSG/SBCG and Fluid Construction Grammar

Hi everybody,
Remi van Trijp wrote some papers comparing SBCG to Fluid Construction
Grammar. He attempts to show that the two frameworks are totally
different: different schools (generative vs. cognitive-functional),
different types of formalization (mathematical vs. implemented).
Furthermore he argued that FCG is superior in terms of completeness,
explanatory adequacy, and theoretical parsimony.
I think that this is not justified and that both approaches are
basically in the same class albeit with focus on different aspects of
language.
