Dear All:    I have been studying English light verb constructions.   In English there are the following constructions containing light verbs , a term coined by Jespersen.A  give a laugh/grin/shrug/sneezeB  give sth a squeeze/wash Here I explore the simplex structure with GIVE, i.e. there are no adjuncts or adverbials. Besides, the eventive objects (quoting R. quirk's term) are restricted to verb roots. As for group A, I claim that the semantic features of eventive objects  are as follows:   [+dynamic, +/-controlled, -bounded, -telic]For group B  [+dynamic, +controlled, -bounded, -telic] These features may also serve as the principles which can determine whether a verbal noun can collocate with LIGHT VERB or not. I wonder whether my conclusions are reliable. Are there counter-examples? Thank you  Aipu Zhang
