If you're interested in this type of recorder for the field you might check this
out. Marantz has been making a solid state recorder for a couple years now. This
is their newest version. I've used this one and it is easy and great to use and
I have to admit I'll never go back to DAT for making recordings.

I particularly like the ability to use an XLR input.
